Whitehorse Manningham Libraries is one of the most actively used public library services in Victoria.  Our services are available to the whole community through eight physical locations, Outreach, Home Library Services and the library website.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to engage effectively with people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Victorian Certificate of Education or equivalent.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current Victorian Drivers licence.
  • A language other than English (spoken or Auslan) is highly desirable.
  • The position requires the incumbent to complete a pre-employment medical check.

The role

In this role the Library Programs Team Leader will be using leadership skills to lead and mentor the Library Programs Team to deliver exceptional programs and events that support diverse groups in our community by meeting their informational and recreational needs while exploring collaboration opportunities with internal and external partnerships.


Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Support the Library Programs Team by providing leadership and guidance with relation to people management processes.
  • Supervise day to day operations, support and guide the team, including but not limited to rostering, leave requests, training and development plans.
  • Develop, plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate a range of high quality adult programs, including programs for culturally and linguistically diverse communities (CALD) across the nine council libraries to meet community needs while working with the Team Leaders of the branch libraries to deliver the programs.

  • Provide a high level of customer service across all branch locations as required.

  • Tertiary qualifications (University Degree) in Library and Information Science or relevant field

About the role:

Work at Campbelltown library as part the Local Studies team. As a Library officer, you will be contributing to the growth of our local studies collections and programs celebrating Campbelltown's history. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • High level customer service skills, high level.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Para professional tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Science.
  • A current class C driver’s license.
  • Strong technology and computer skills.
  • Experience in working in customer service based environment with the ability to work as part of a diverse team.
  • Experience in library work and demonstrated knowledge of public library practises.
  • A valid working with children check, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.

 Job Description

As a part-time Library Officer, you will act as a first point of contact and assist with the customer enquiries. You will issue and discharge library materials, receipt monies, facilitate venue bookings in consultation with the Customer Service team, as well as maintain library membership records. Your proficiency with IT and patient, friendly approach will be essential for supporting our customers in accessing and navigating a variety of online services. You will also support the wider library team by assisting with the preparation and delivery of various library activities and programs to promote life-long learning, including Rhymetime and Storytime.
