About the position

Council’s Arts & Culture Department is looking for a Team Leader Outreach and Partnerships who will be responsible for enhancing community engagement with Frankston City Libraries by promoting services, facilitating lifelong learning and ensuring access to information, via Outreach locations and initiatives.

The main responsibilities will include: 

  • To lead the Outreach and Partnerships team in innovating library services and customer operations within the Outreach setting.
  • Coordinate the operational requirements of the Home Library Service to ensure that eligible residents receive a quality service delivered to their place of residence in the municipality, through a team of volunteers.
  • To promote positive aging within the city, with a focus on library services.

This is an ongoing full time position.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Library and Information Services or related discipline which enables professional membership to ALIA.
  • Demonstrated experience and current knowledge of library trends in regard to the delivery of library services, with a focus on Outreach and Partnerships.
  • Demonstrated experience in working sensitively in a diverse community supporting highly socially and economically disadvantaged communities.

About the Role

Council’s Arts & Culture Department is looking for a qualified Collections Librarian committed to providing excellent customer and information services to the community.  The role will be responsible for supporting the cataloguing of items, including the new Library Of Things.  

The main responsibilities will include: 

  • Proving an accurate, quality library catalogue that meets international standards.
  • Assisting with the development of the Library's lending collection to reflect community interest and in accordance with the Collection Development guidelines.
  • Engaging with the community in the libraries to deliver and promote library services ad foster an inclusive, welcoming community library service.

This is a permanent part time role working 30.4 hours per week. Working days are flexible, however you will be required to work one Saturday a fortnight and be located at our Langwarrin location on a Thursday and Friday to support the team.

About you

  • Professional qualification in Information Management as defined by ALIA;
  • Experience in using latest cataloguing tools; MARC, DDC, AACR2, RDA and LCSH;
  • Experience in using latest archiving tools; and

The Role
To assist in the efficient and effective delivery of Library and information services to meet the educational, information, cultural and recreational needs of the community. This includes performing a range of library and administrative tasks and supporting the effective operation of the library.

  • Provide high-quality customer service across all library service points.
  • Assist with the day-to-day running of the library service points and general enquiries.
  • Assist with the shelving, display, and general maintenance of library collections.
  • Provide support for library projects, help deliver programs and assist with other duties as directed by Team Leaders.
  • Assist and instruct customers in the use of library resources and technologies.

About You

  • Higher School Certificate or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role and enthusiastic approach to working with the community.
  • Demonstrated skills in digital literacy.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
  • Sound organisational skills and a flexible approach to work.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
