About the Role

We are looking for qualified Librarians to join our casual team.

The Information Librarian works within the Community Arts, Culture and Library Services Department at both Springvale and Dandenong Library sites.

The role’s key responsibilities include providing effective and efficient library and information services to all Library users and our diverse community. Additional responsibilities include: supervising the front of house Library Services team to provide a responsive and flexible service, support and deliver high-quality library programs to promote learning, literacy, reading and social inclusion, and support collection maintenance and development activities.

About You

The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge of information service provision to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, experience in staff supervision in a library environment, experience in conducting staff and/or public training programs, be a committed, considerate, and pro-active team member, and have a passion for supporting and engaging with the community.

You will be flexible and willing to support the team as required on a casual basis including on evening and weekend shifts across our two locations.

You may be required to undertake practical testing, work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacity assessment (physical) or aptitude testing.

The successful candidate will be asked to produce a clear Working with Children Check and will be asked t oconsent to a national police check (and where relevant an ‘international criminal history check’), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws. About the role

Inner West Council are offering a wonderful opportunity for a Graduate Librarian to assist in delivering high quality library services including customer services, program delivery, readers advisory, physical and digital collection management, assistance with technology, local history enquiries and administration to residents of the Inner West. This development role will provide a recent graduate the opportunity to participate in a variety of roles and projects while applying theoretical knowledge in a practical and professional setting.

Remuneration

$75,162.88 - $80,136.68 + 11.5% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications 

  1. Completed a relevant degree or post-graduate qualification in Library and Information Management or equivalent in the current year, 2024, with the aim to commence employment at the beginning of 2025.
  2. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills that enable engagement, collaboration and relationship building with all Library stakeholders in both face-to-face and online environments.
  3. Outstanding computer skills and proficiency in the use of finance and asset management systems/databases and Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  4. An understanding of high quality customer service and a willingness to promote and assist in the development and delivery of activities and programs for the library's customers.
  5. Willing and confident to deliver programs to community members of all ages including storytelling, singing and public speaking.

The Opportunity

Additionally, the candidate will excel at working as part of a team and showcase well-developed organisational and time management skills.

About the Role

The Shire of Murray is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to promote and deliver library services to young people and families in the Shire. Programs include weekly story time and rhyme time sessions, school visits and holiday events.

Murray Library continues to build its literacy and learning focus, and over time the successful candidate will seek out and develop opportunities for community engagement outside the library.

The position is a permanent part-time role, working 46 hours per fortnight.

An EBA Level 3 salary between $63,916.10 to $67,729.55 per annum (pro rata) will be offered dependent upon your skillset and experience.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Our successful applicant will have sound interpersonal skills, the ability to build rapport with young children, youth, families and teachers, knowledge of Library procedures and practices, customer service skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

City of Darwin operates four (4) libraries across the municipality: City (Civic Centre), Nightcliff, Karama and Casuarina. Our libraries are open throughout the day Monday to Friday, Saturday mornings with Casuarina library also open on a Sunday afternoon.

We are looking for community focused individuals who are friendly, energetic, quick to learn, able to engage with small groups and ICT savvy to join our team. What do we ask our library assistants to do?

  • Ensure library users are provided with a positive, proactive and responsive customer service experience by:
    • engaging, supporting and connecting library users with services, activities and resources including e-books.
    • assisting with general enquiries and the use of various IT resources and self-serve technologies.
    • explain procedures and regulations to library users.
  • Library assistants are also expected to assist with:
    • The delivery of a range of library programs and events including story times.
    • Maintaining the order of library collections through shelving, sorting and shelf reading
    • General presentation of the library environment.

What do we need you to have?

  • A current Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
