We are seeking a dedicated and community-focused individual to join the Alice Springs Public Library team. In this role, you will support the delivery of high-quality outreach programs that promote literacy, lifelong learning, arts, culture, and local heritage, while providing exceptional customer service to all library users. You will assist with library events, maintain collections, and work collaboratively with library management and volunteers to continuously improve programs. About the Position

The role supports the day-to-day operation and activation of Morley Community Centre, ensuring the facility is welcoming, safe and accessible for all users. It coordinates facility use, supports community groups, hirers, volunteers and program facilitators, and assists in the delivery of community programs, activities and events. Acting as a key onsite contact, the position helps resolve operational issues, maintains positive relationships with centre users and stakeholders, and contributes to an inclusive and vibrant community hub that promotes participation, connection and wellbeing.

Acting as the senior officer on duty and primary onsite contact, the role provides operational oversight, resolves routine issues, and escalates complex matters when required. A strong customer‑service focus is essential, with the position offering advanced support to library users, assisting with complex enquiries, and ensuring accurate transactional and system records. The role provides advanced support for library systems, digital resources and technologies, assisting customers and staff with complex enquiries and troubleshooting technical issues to ensure effective service delivery. This position undertakes key administrative, financial and procurement tasks and assists with monitoring budgets.  The role also provides day-to-day guidance and support to staff and volunteers and acts as a key operational contact at designated library and community centre locations. 

A strong focus on safety and compliance is essential, including overseeing building maintenance, security, and emergency procedures. Through positive relationships and proactive engagement, the role contributes to an innovative, community‑focused service that enhances participation, learning and wellbeing.

This is a permanent full-time position.

Please note that this position is primarily based at Morley Community Centre, with rostered hours at Maylands Library. As with all Library and Community Centre positions, employees may be required to work across multiple facilities, including more than one location on the same day.

About You  

You are a customer focused, solutions driven professional with a strong work ethic and the ability to manage complex or sensitive enquiries. Your leadership style is supportive and collaborative, enabling you to guide staff effectively in a dynamic service environment.

With experience in library operations, community centre operations, customer service and/or community services, you bring a solid understanding of delivering high-quality, community-focused programs, services and facilities. You are an effective problem solver who can troubleshoot technical, operational and customer service issues. You have experience coordinating day-to-day operations, supporting staff and volunteers, engaging with community groups and stakeholders, and exercising sound judgement when resolving issues and escalating more complex matters.

You are proficient with corporate systems, Microsoft Office, integrated data platforms and library management systems, and you can support others in using these tools effectively. You have demonstrated experience using and supporting library management systems, digital resources and associated technologies, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide advanced assistance to customers and colleagues.  Experience undertaking financial and administrative processes, including procurement, receipting, purchase orders or budget monitoring, will be highly regarded. You work cooperatively within a team, contribute positively to shared goals and uphold the City’s values through your everyday actions.

You take responsibility for your decisions, approach your work ethically and efficiently, and actively look for ways to improve processes and enhance service quality. Curious, adaptable and open to change, you bring enthusiasm, professionalism and a positive attitude to every interaction.

In this role, you will work closely with children, parents, carers, and community members to deliver engaging family literacy programs, build community connections, and promote the benefits of early literacy. About the role

The City of Sydney Library provides a space for our vibrant communities to grow, learn, connect and create. The nine branches offer a key front-line service in the community for residents, students, visitors, tourists, and workers.  

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced professional Librarian to join the City of Sydney library team.   

As part of this dynamic team, you will be responsible for:  

  • Delivering an exceptional customer experience to the community 
  • Supporting and contributing to the development of digital literacy, Readers advisory and other programs for our diverse communities  
  • Supporting Team leader in daily operations and branch compliance. 
  • Contributing to projects that support continuous improvement in collections, programming, and technology. 
  • Leading and coaching small teams while negotiating complex and competing priorities and stakeholders, and driving results 

The successful candidate will have experience in:  

  • Providing high quality customer service including to all members of the community 
  • Excellent digital literacy skills and experience with library collections

The Library Assistant supports and delivers best-practice programs and supports the planning, development and delivery of customer focused activities to meet the needs across key focus areas of children, youth and adults in the Liverpool community.  
Collaborate with library staff to plan, implement and evaluate programs, maintain service resources, support staff development and training, monitor program outcomes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Provide excellent customer service and operational support across the library network, including outreach activities, collection maintenance, and branch service delivery as required.

Performing other duties as required from time to time including resource allocation, collection maintenance and provision of direct customer support as required across the library network including night shift work and weekend work

ABOUT YOU
The successful applicant will have:

  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Completion of Library qualifications or working towards (Minimum Certificate III in Library and Information Services).
  • This position is subject to a working with children check. Please provide your current working with children check verification number.
  • Experience working in a public library and a customer service environment.
  • Ability to implement promotional activities for Adult, Youth & Children’s Programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate as an effective team member.
  • Proven experience in the facilitation and provision of quality Adult, Youth &/or Children’s Programs.

Bay View Community Centre Library Officer – Part Time (0.19 FTE) 

Salary $71,012 per annum (pro rata), $35.94 per hour  plus 15.5% superannuation  

The Town is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate part-time Library Officer to work at Bay View Community Centre Library. This role requires availability on Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, with additional shifts available based on site requirements. 

This role will work with the Town’s small but dedicated library team to: 

  • Assist library users by providing exceptional customer service. 
  • Process new resources/stock such as covering and accessioning. 
  • Manage, deliver and promote the home delivery program. 
  • Utilise library software (Spydus) to record library stock movements and assist with collection management and exchanges. 
  • Shelve library items.
