About our opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Library Services Coordinator to join our Library Senior Leadership team and leaders within the Cultural Services Department.

Reporting directly to the Library Services Manager, you will lead and coordinate the delivery of consistent, contemporary, and dynamic library service across a number of sites within the City of Moreton Bay Library Service. You will lead a suite of Senior Leaders and adopt a proactive and innovative approach to service provision across our region.

A key part of your role will be the provision of expert advice to the Library Services Manager in the development of library strategies, budgets and reporting to enhance customer experience outcomes. 

Additionally, you will:

  • Work closely with the Library Senior Leadership team to coordinate the planning and delivery of library facility improvement projects, ensuring buildings and spaces enhance customer experience. 
  • Coordinate the library network’s customer experience function; address issues regarding service provision, responding to escalated matters and report on service outcomes.
  • Develop and manage library service delivery through a range of workforce management initiatives.
  • Provide leadership to library teams in developing a customer centric culture of innovation, learning, continuous improvement, and service enhancement.

  • Diploma qualification in Information Science/Librarianship or other tertiary qualifications with relevant demonstrable skills and experience. 
  • Well-developed planning, organisation and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated operational experience in delivering programs.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate, negotiate, build relationships and influence others with an engaging approach and technique.

What’s on offer

We are offering an attractive remuneration from $$77,569.26 to $85,424.97 plus 11% superannuation.

This role is currently based in Central Parramatta, and will work across seven library branches.

  • Diploma – Library/Information Studies (TAFE)
  • Eligible for Library Technician membership of ALIA

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

What You’ll Be Working On

Reporting to the Team Leader Library Experience, your day to day will involve developing and implementing a framework for Library community outreach and engagement. You will also lead an assessment of our current suite of adult programming, and mapping what our future delivery looks like.

At times you will be the liaison point with external providers of programmes and events.

Community connection and inclusion will be at the heart of what you do. At the moment, this includes oversight of home library services, adult literacy and library outreach, but you will also have the opportunity to grow and adapt our service so we are connecting with more members of the Mosman community in new ways.

You will also play a role in supporting implementation of Library projects and new initiatives.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

To be successful in this role you will hold tertiary qualifications in librarianship or community development, or other qualifications with relevant work experience.

You will be skilled at connecting with people, both as a leader of a small team, but also with community members and other teams within Council. As well as experience in leading delivery of adult programming, you will have skills in public engagement and delivery of small projects or initiatives.

In addition to the above you will have a vision for how library services can be delivered in non-traditional ways out into the community. You may have experience with methodologies such as asset based community development.

Above all, you will be a leader who can help our community-focussed team deliver the best possible services to the people of Mosman.

In addition to the above you will hold a valid C class drivers licence and a valid Working with Children Check.

About the position

At the North Burnett Regional Council, we are looking for an enthusiastic, agile and community minded individual to join our Customer Service & Library Team on a casual basis to provide support for planned and unplanned leave.

This position is based across the region and is valuable to the organisation, linking our community to a range of Council services, community information and Library Services.

The role is diverse and includes:

  • Customer interactions at a Customer Service and Library Centre and/or Council’s Contact Centre.
  • A range of operational, administrative and customer service functions in alignment with Council’s Corporate and Operational Plan and Customer Service Charter.
  • Assist with the day-to-day provision of library operations and support the delivery and promotion of library services and programs.

No specific library experience is required. Induction training and ongoing development will be provided to ensure you grow a broad knowledge of all Council services and ensure we continue to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Some key duties are:

  • Provide welcoming customer service through a variety of channels including but not limited to face to face interactions, telephone, written, email and online services.
  • Accurately capture customer enquiries and requests, process transactions and applications for a variety of Council Services including taking payments (receipting cash, cheque, EFTPOS).
  • Assist with the day-to-day provision of library operations (e.g. joining new members and processing loans and returns) and support the delivery and promotion of library services and programs.
  • Carry out general administrative functions relevant to the work area which are compliant with Council’s policies and procedures.

To be successful you will bring the following:

  • A proven ability to provide a quality customer experience with excellent interpersonal skills face to face and over the phone
  • A proven ability to work successfully in a team, contributing ideas and supporting team goals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary administrative practices and the use of computer software including the MS Office Suite of products
  • Current C class drivers’ licence (or higher)
  • Ability to understand and follow work practices and procedures
  • Eligible to obtain and hold a current Working with Children Blue Card

Experience within Local Government, relevant qualifications and/ or experience within a similar setting is desirable, however a strong customer service ethos, motivation to serve the community, a love of learning and drive to contribute to the team is paramount to success in this role.

About this position

An opportunity has become available within the Leisure and Culture Branch to work in a casual capacity in the City's Library Service. The City has four libraries at Gosnells, Beckenham, Thornlie and Southern River and the successful applicant may be rostered to work at any of these four locations.

The City's library service is open seven days per week. In addition to weekdays, applicants must be available to work weekend and evening shifts as required. The ability to undertake children's programs would be an advantage (this will require a valid Working with Children Check).

What we are looking for

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to undertake multifaceted tasks in a library environment.

Essential requirements
