About you and this position

We are seeking an experienced Local History Officer to join our dynamic team. With your well-developed communication and presentation skills you will support the creative delivery of collection-based exhibitions that explore ideas, tell stories, and inspire curiosity with audiences. You will develop, curate, promote and maintain a library collection of historical value to the City of Campbelltown and its community.

This position will support access and community connection to this local history collection, which includes providing a reference service for library customers and council staff accessing materials and information, as well as coordinating the digitisation of community history records and materials. This role also coordinates local history volunteers and provides library customer service.

As a successful candidate, you will have:

  • Knowledge, skills and experience in curating valued local history collections
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills
  • Innovative thinking and a practical approach to problem solving

To be successful, candidates will also be required to complete a pre-employment medical and submit a police clearance.

This position is offered as a 24 hour per week part-time, permanent position, and is classified as a Grade 3 under the Campbelltown Municipal Officers Staff Enterprise Agreement No. 10, 2021 and relevant Award.

About the role

The Library Programming and Events Assistant is key in ensuring the IWC Library & History Service is a pivotal information, recreation and education provider in the community. This role will assist the Programming team to deliver quality lifelong learning, literacy, cultural and recreation programs and services across the Council’s eight libraries. In particular, the role will have a strong focus on the delivery of all programs and services, aimed at promoting literacy skills, developing readers, supporting education and lifelong learning, and providing valuable recreational and cultural opportunities for the inner west community.

Remuneration

$54,765 - $63,474.32 + 11.5% Superannuation

About the Role

Strathfield Council is seeking an engaged Customer Service Team Leader to join our Library & Community Services team on a permanent, full-time basis.

The purpose of this role is to effectively lead the Library Customer Service team in the delivery of a positive customer experience which meets service standards. This is to be achieved through ongoing coordination, development and mentoring of staff.

This position looks for continual improvement opportunities to enhance customer experience, looking to industry trends, best practice and their own knowledge. This position will lead and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures, services and resources.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Completion of recognised degree in Library and Information Studies (eligible for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated strong customer focus, with ability to respond promptly and courteously to a diverse community and have a good knowledge of library services, products and collections
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service in public libraries, including circulation desk duties, administrations tasks, statistical reporting.
  • Proven ability to analyse information to produce meaningful reports, policies and submissions for sound decision making
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills communication including cultural awareness
  • Highly developed skills in time management, negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Proven ability to develop and lead a cohesive and performing team, training and mentoring team members
  • Current NSW Class C Driver Licence
  • A current Office of the Children’s Guardian - Working with Children Check number or willingness to obtain.

About the Opportunity:

As a key member of the Library and Family Service team, this position will be required to coordinate an integrated library service across four service points: Casuarina, Darwin City, Nightcliff, and Karama Libraries. You will be required to assist with the delivery of circulation and reference information services, shelve books and handle cash. This position is part time and requires a minimum of 14 hours of work per week, Monday to Sunday.

  • Certificate III in Library and Information Services and/or relevant experience in a similar role
  • Current cleared Working with Children Check
  • Current Class ‘C’ Driver License
  • Be able to deliver timely customer services in person, over the phone or across multi-communication channels in line with established customer service standards
  • Thorough knowledge of WHS & EEO practices and principles.

The City of Ryde library service comprises of five branches at Ryde, North Ryde, Eastwood, West Ryde and Gladesville as well as a significant online library. About the Role

Library Assistants are our front line customer service staff and work in all areas of the library. They are passionate about giving back to the community. These are significant roles in the North Ryde Library which provide valuable support to the Team Leader in regards to collection maintenance and team communication as well as a variety of tasks which range from assisting customers with library technology, Reader Advisory services, leading children’s activities such as rhyme-time and after school activities and school holiday programs and maintaining a safe, neat, welcoming library.

In addition, North Ryde Library houses an extensive Toy Library, located in a newly refurbished children’s zone of the library. The library staff regularly run an extensive suite of programs for children and adults.

The part-time position is 12 hours per week and the hours will be as follows:

  • Tuesday – 9 am – 1.30 pm
  • Thursday – 9.30 am – 1:30 pm
  • Saturday - 9.30 am – 1 pm

Please note that all full time positions also involve regular rostered evening and weekend shifts.

Your commencing rate of pay will be from between $61,709.67 - $66,014.99 (pro rata for the part time role) plus Superannuation, subject to your library qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible to participate in the Council’s Rostered Day Off system (full time position only).

About You

You will have exceptional customer service skills and enthusiasm to help our diverse range of public library users whether it be finding a book or troubleshooting technology. In addition you should have:

  • Completion of Library qualifications (minimum Certificate III in Library and Information Services)
  • Exceptional teamwork skills with proven experience to also work independently
  • Adaptable approach to tasks with the ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Experience in conducting activities and programs for children
  • An enthusiasm for technology and the ability to assist customers in the use of library technologies such as printing, scanning, use of online resources and apps.

Note: This is a Child Related position and employment is subject to verification of the Working With Children Check status. The cost of obtaining a WWC clearance is at the applicant's expense.

Broken Hill City Council is seeking a qualified applicant for a temporary full-time role as Library Technician - Technical Services for up to 2-years. During 2025, BHCC will open a brand new $15mill library facility. The successful applicant will be part of an exciting new chapter and enthusiastic team delivering services to Broken Hill and surrounding outback communities.

The Library Technician plays a vital role supporting the Library Coordinator to provide an effective and efficient library service for the Broken Hill City Library.

 Job Description

The Library Technician has overarching responsibility for the practical components of Library Operations, including Rostering, Administration, Statistics, Library processes (ordering, purchasing, cataloguing and collection management), equipment, technology and day-to-day practicalities involved in delivering a modern library service.

By collaborating with the Library Programs Officer, this role is effective in supporting, directing and motivating library staff, providing day-to-day operational guidance in line with strategic directions set by the Library Coordinator and Council’s Executive Leadership Team.

We seek an energetic, highly motivated individual with excellent communication, inter-personal and time management skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate how they can work effectively both in a team and independently.

The library operates 6 days a week with staff working hours between 9.00 am to 6.00 pm on weekdays and 10.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturdays. You will be required to work rostered shifts within the Library’s operational hours. Penalty rates apply for weekend work as per the Broken Hill City Council Consent Award.

Essential criteria:

  • Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
  • Previous public library experience, including a broad understanding of Library and Information services, systems and procedures. This is a technical role.
  • Working knowledge of new technologies, current trends, industry best practice in library technology including web-based resources and social media applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and work with a range of relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Well-developed problem-solving and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Sound knowledge of Library policies, practices, and relevant legislation with the ability to ensure legislative and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Current Class C NSW Drivers Licence.

Desirable criteria:

•    Australian Federal Police Check

•    Experience with the Libero Library Management System.

•    Current First Aid Certificate.
