About the Role

We are seeking a highly creative and experienced people leader to join the Library Leadership Team to lead and develop the library’s marketing and diverse outreach programs.

We are looking for someone with a passion for community engagement and program development, experience in marketing, digital marketing and communications strategies, skills in leading a dynamic and effective team and the ability to collaborate and implement change.

The library operates in a team environment in which the Library Resource and Technology, Library Operations, and Library Programs and Marketing teams work together to achieve the objectives and initiatives outlined in the library plan.

Your commencing salary would range from $105,441.39 - $129,165.70 per annum + superannuation, dependant on the skills, qualifications, and relevant experience of the suitable candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop and evaluate a vibrant program of library activities and outreach that enhances the cultural, educational, recreational and information needs for a diverse community
  • Lead and develop effective marketing and communication strategies for the City of Ryde Libraries including development and managing of the social media assets to grow our online presence and engagement with community
  • Provide a consistent and recognisable library identity and voice, editorial, graphic, and web style to ensure City of Ryde Libraries is a recognisable brand
  • Manage, develop and lead a cohesive Library Programs and Marketing Team including staff supervision, training and development, coordinating the team's key responsibilities, managing team workload, and assigned projects
  • Develop and manage the Library’s outreach and services in Community Information, Local Studies, Home Library Service, Multicultural and Children and Youth.
  • Implement the community engagement plan and marketing plan for the City of Ryde Libraries
  • Drive an increase in library membership and library usage at the branches and online
  • Undertake a regular process of review, evaluation and reporting of all programs, exhibitions, events and marketing outcomes
  • Develop and maintain partnerships, including the library volunteer program
  • Contribute to business planning and overall policy direction within the Library Service
  • Manage the budget and resources allocated to the specialist area

Key Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications or Marketing or a related discipline appropriate to the position with experience in Library Services or Cultural Development. Or a Library and Information Degree with demonstrable skills in the requirements of the role.

About the role

The Content and Collections Librarian undertakes high level support for the Library Content and Collections Coordinator in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of high-performing and accessible library content and collections for Ipswich Libraries.

With a key focus on collections management, you will be working within a high-performing team that delivers library content, collections, Home Library service, interlibrary loans and Picture Ipswich.

The position will partner, collaborate and provide high level support across all Library sections in the delivery and management of Library collections across a variety of formats and delivery platforms.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and optimise Library Management Software and technology
  • Advise on cataloguing, copyright, privacy, and licensing
  • Analyse and report on library system efficiency and trends
  • Lead and develop team performance and collaboration
  • Contribute to both routine and strategic project initiatives
  • Develop policies and processes for continuous improvement
  • Maintain supplier relationships to uphold service levels

About you

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Tertiary qualification in a related field and/or demonstrated technical experience in library content and collection operations
  • Current Queensland C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Substantial experience using one or more types of Library Management Software
  • Sound level of proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools such as MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
  • High attention to detail and a solutions-based mindset with an appetite for solving interesting problems

Central Highlands Regional Council is looking for a highly motivated, customer service centric Senior Library Officer.

As the successful applicant, you will have the ability to lead a group of diverse teams and bring a proactive and enthusiastic approach to the delivery of library services in order to provide a positive and welcoming environment for our community. 

In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:

  • Overseeing and evaluating the day-to-day operational delivery of library services and programs for the Blackwater, Capella, Emerald, and Springsure libraries and teams ensuring adherence to the Library Service Strategic Action Plan, guidelines, council procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Develop staff to assist them to deliver efficient and effective customer focused services.
  • Accurately analysing and reporting on library functions and issues to Library Coordinator.
  • Overseeing local history and heritage collections, activities and programs consistently across all branches of the library service.
  • Planning and implementing promotional and marketing activities consistently across all branches of the library service.
  • Supporting the Library Coordinator relationships with key stakeholders to ensure consistent region wide delivery of library functions, programs and services.
  • Provide accurate information and reference assistance to customers using public access catalogues, public access computers and library collections.
  • Conduct outreach sessions as required, including storytelling sessions, school visits, book clubs, library tours and/or computer classes. 
  • Working according to safe work procedures and undertake necessary training to ensure regulatory compliance is met and zero harm is achieved.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Minimum Diploma in Library and Information Services with relevant proven experience; or other related qualification(s) and substantial experience in the delivery of library services.
  • Queensland Working with Children Blue Card, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Queensland C class provisional driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and cooperatively in a team, with the ability to undertake operational and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to provide direction to staff as and when required.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing point-of-need services to internal and external customers with the ability to adapt to a range of existing and/or emerging technology platforms and delivery modes.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.

You will be expected to take initiative in terms of special collections, developing relevant and attractive library displays, supporting programs and other library activities with custom collections and reading lists, and fulfilling desk shifts in the library roster.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collection development and management, including promotion and marketing
  • Budget management and systems reporting
  • Reference and IT support and general customer service
  • Working collaboratively with the broader Lifelong Learning team to identify opportunities to increase access and awareness of the Library’s collection and services.

The successful applicant will have or be working towards a degree and/or post-graduate qualification which qualifies for Associate (Professional) membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), and understand modern collection development principles and practices, including cataloguing. A high level of customer service experience will be looked at favourably, as will a flexible and positive attitude.

This Senior Leadership role is responsible for providing and managing Library Services to the community.  The position is required to provide a proactive, informative and responsive service consistent with council’s objectives, vision and core values.  This role is responsible for the Library staff, rostering, building and fitout assets, technology and equipment. Blue Mountains Libraries strive to provide services that are at the leading edge of library innovation and best practice, often with limited resources. The expectation is to expand and grow the activities by providing amenities and services that are friendly, professionally presented and delivered, attractive, current to community expectations and industry trends, and comparative to other regional facilities.  

The person for this role will have at least 5 years’ experience in a library management role and ability to project management with high level budget experience.  They will need to have tertiary qualification in library studies or a related discipline. The person will have extensive personal experience and knowledge across a range of contemporary public library service issues and a sound working knowledge of governing legislation and frameworks.  They will need to have high level written and oral communication skills, experience in proposing new, creative and sound alternatives to improve library services, plus the ability to identify the implications and possible consequences of trends or events that may impact on current and future client needs.  They will have experience in building a strong team and creating an environment that encourages change and innovation.

Remuneration: base salary commencing at $111,004 gross per annum
 + 11.5% superannuation
 + performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary 
 + annual award increase

The position will also require acting as the senior staff member while rostered on desk.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake customer service duties as rostered, including working at different library locations, to support the efficient operation of the library service.
  • Develop and deliver children and youth-based programs in line with Council strategic priorities.
  • Provide outreach programming, such as kindergarten visits, to the Moonee Valley community.
  • Maintain and develop a current and relevant collection of children and young adult materials at the Sam Merrifield Library.
  • Provide leadership support to the team leader, as well as supervision and training to library staff as required. 

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification acceptable for professional membership (librarian) of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
  • Experience working in public libraries and delivering services to children and/or young adults.
