Stanton Library is a quality customer focused library service located in a beautiful park setting near a busy CBD, close to public transport and recreational facilities.

We currently have an exciting, rare opportunity for an experienced Manager to lead our dedicated Library Services team at Stanton Library.  

This position is responsible for the management of the Stanton Library and Historical Services departments to meet the outcomes of the North Sydney Council Delivery and Operational Plans.

You will also be responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic vision and operations of the Library, Heritage Centre and Museums, as well as leading the library services department in providing programs, services, collections and facilities that meet the needs of the North Sydney Community.


  • Tertiary qualifications in library studies or associated discipline, recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association.
  • Substantial experience in library operational and staff management.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge across a range of contemporary library service issues and a sound working knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks.
  • Experience in building and leading staff teams and developing a positive staff culture
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering strategic objectives, including effective project management and change management skills.
  • High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively represent the library and negotiate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of administrative, budgetary and financial planning and procedures, with a proven ability to deliver cost effective services to the community.
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)


  • Experience in developing and delivering customer consultation and community engagement activities.
  • Knowledge and interest in local history and heritage, along with a solid understanding of issues and considerations in managing historical collections and properties
  • Vaccinated against COVID-19

About the role

A bit about the role
Wyndham Libraries are launching a Pop-Up Library Programs Van to deliver activities and engage with the community in 2022 and beyond. We are looking for an enthusiastic program delivery professional to join our team taking library services around Wyndham.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new team delivering programs and outreach services from locations across Wyndham. This role will report to the Team Leader Library Community Outreach and work closely with the Programs Teams across the library service. 

As a remote library, you will be traveling to scheduled sites across Council. You will deliver programs for all ages and provide support with a small collection of books on board. 

Whilst you will primarily work on the Pop-Up Library, this position will be required to alter their regular working hours to support evening and weekend events and programs on an ad-hoc basis. In addition, this position may be required to rotate to other branches in line with operational requirements and may be required to work rostered Saturday morning as part of a regular work pattern.
