Essential:

  • Qualifications in Library and Information Science or equivalent, and/or experience
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and delivering innovative and inclusive programs, including outreach programs
  • Knowledge and experience in cataloguing, Libraries Australia and TROVE
  • Demonstrated experience in providing excellence in customer service with the ability to confidently and proactively engage with library customers and value-add to the customer experience

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organise and prioritise workloads

  • General knowledge of library policies and practices, and current trends in libraries
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment including new technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to apply EEO and WHS principles, and to proactively act with discretion

Desirable:

  • Experience in the delivery of programs to children, youth and adults
  • Experience in the delivery of staff training

Skills, experience, and other requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Diploma of Library Information, Information Services or equivalent qualification appropriate to the position or substantial experience in a similar role
  • Experience in local government or other complex organisations is desirable
  • Substantial experience in frontline customer service
  • Substantial experience in IT applications
  • Relevant prior experience in public libraries is desirable
  • An Employee Working with Children Check
  • Preparedness to undertake an Australian Criminal History Check

The City has four libraries and delivers the library services through a portfolio based approach that allows staff to undertake a range of duties and develop new skills.

About this position:

If you love working in a diverse community, have great customer service skills, and can assist people find information and help with technology - then a wonderful opportunity has become available within Library Services. The position will work at different libraries undertaking varied roles and is currently based within the Promotions and Engagement team developing and presenting programs, activities and outreach to the City of Gosnells community.

You must have:

To be successful, you must have:

  • Previous experience in a library or similar customer-facing environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills working with teams, individuals and the community.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • The ability to undertake multifaceted tasks in an accurate and timely manner.

Essential requirements:

  • Current National Police Clearance (less than 3 months old)
  • Current "C-Class" driver's licence.
  • Working with children's card
