About the Opportunity 

We are excited to advertise a new permanent full-time Team Leader Operations position for the new Mernda location reporting into the Branch Manager Whittlesea Library.  This role will be based at both Mernda and Whittlesea, and will be required to work at other YPRL locations regularly.

Working closely with the Branch Manager, the Team Leader Operations will be responsible for quality library services, coordinating and leading the team, and supervising operations to develop, inform and connect with our community. 

About you 

Our ideal candidate will build on a culture of quality, best practice and customer focus to deliver library services that meet client expectations with particular commitment to continuous improvement.

You have outstanding leadership abilities and communication skills to develop staff.

You will contribute to library policy and provide advice to the Branch Manager on all operations.

The successful candidates will possess:  

•    Completion of year 10 or equivalent or working towards

OBJECTIVE OF THIS ROLE

This position is to provide friendly and professional services at the Bob McDonald Library, Dr David Harvey-Sutton Gallery, Cloncurry Unearthed Visitor Information Centre, and Museum (Cloncurry Unearthed) and John Flynn Place Museum and Art Gallery (JFP) as well as administration, event, and venue support across multiple venues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE

QUALIFICATIONS

Mandatory:

Desirable:

We have an exciting opportunity within our Library Services team for a Local and Family History Librarian to maintain and develop resources relating to the history of the Cumberland local government area, including the Local Studies and the Family History/Genealogy collection. You will ensure the security and accuracy of customer information whilst completing general maintenance activities of the library and coordinate the promotion of the Local Studies and Family History collection to the general community.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Degree or postgraduate degree in Library and Information Science and/or relevenat tertiary qualifications in local studies/historical studies/genealogy/preservation or relevant experience 
  • Eligible for Associate membership of ALIA, if Library degree held
  • Experience in local studies and genealogy
  • High level of interpersonal and customer service skills.

Position information: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight Monday to Saturday on a rotating roster from 8:00am to 8:00pm, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement.

This role is predominantly located at Council's Auburn and Merrylands Library, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,464.40 to $1,684.06 per week, plus 10.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
