About the role
As a member of the City of Canada Bay Libraries team, this role is key to designing engaging and inclusive programs, developing collections tailored to young audiences, and building community partnerships that support learning and literacy for children from birth through the end of primary school.

Within the area of responsibility, this role will:

  • Develop and deliver a variety of socially inclusive library services and programs that promote early literacy and foster reading engagement among parents/carers and children up to Year Six.
  • Contribute to the development and management of collections for children and parents/carers, ensuring services remain relevant and responsive to community needs.
  • Actively promote children’s library services within the community to increase awareness and participation.
  • Build and nurture partnerships with internal teams and community stakeholders to enhance engagement and access to children’s programs and services.
  • Evaluate programs and events to drive continuous improvement and support the achievement of strategic objectives.

Are You the Ideal Candidate?

To successful candidate should have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in library and information studies and eligible for professional membership with the Australian Library and Information Association
  • Experience working with children and their parents/carers in libraries, education, or community services
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver programs for children between 0-12 years of age
  • Demonstrated storytelling and creative display skills
  • Knowledge and skill in promoting and evaluating children’s library programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An enthusiastic interest in literature for young people and a passion for promoting literacy
  • Experience leading diverse teams
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Valid Class C Driver’s Licence

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in Information Science/Librarianship and have minimum two years in library collections, preferably a public library.

This part-time role is a maximum term position (approximately 10 months,) Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 1:00pm at our Harrington Library. The hours of this role are Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm, and availability for additional Saturday shifts is also required. In this front-facing role, you’ll support visitors with their enquiries, champion library services, and contribute to a welcoming and vibrant library environment. The successful candidate will bring creativity, confidence in presenting to diverse audiences, and a passion for promoting reading, learning, and community participation.

About the Role:

Bayside Libraries are looking for a passionate and creative librarian to lead the development and delivery of programs that inspire a love of reading and literature within our community. In this role, you’ll design and coordinate engaging events, initiatives, and innovative reader activities for adults across our Libraries, helping to build a vibrant culture of lifelong learning.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, you’ll ensure programs are high-quality, inclusive, and responsive to community needs. This position offers variety and flexibility, with opportunities to work across all Bayside Library locations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with library staff to design library programs 
  • Monitoring, reporting upon and being accountable for key performance indicators in Library Programs 
  • Leading the process of assessing, prioritising and ensuring the delivery of the programs within Bayside Libraries (12-month) schedule 
  • Developing innovative reader centric services

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • Librarianship qualification recognised by ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association) or a complementary tertiary qualification with extensive equivalent experience in a public library setting
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships, across all levels
  • The confidence and ability to step into existing projects and hit the ground running
  • A highly organised individual, to ensure the organisation continues to meet its strategy and plan commitments through project, program, and initiative delivery

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check 
  • A current Victorian Driver’s licence

About the Role

This position combines outreach and management skills at one of WA’s newest libraries. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of planning and delivering a broad range of community outreach events for our youngest customers, including Storytime and Rhymetime. You’ll also be responsible for developing programs for youth and activating the library’s Youth Area.

Your organisational and time management skills will underpin daily library operations, working with the Branch Librarian to ensure effective staff and facility management.

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences and supporting your community? Join Your Library as a Senior Customer Service Officer and play a key role in creating welcoming, vibrant spaces for learning and connection. As a Senior Customer Service Officer, you will:

  • Provide outstanding customer service to library members, visitors, and staff.
  • Model positive customer interactions and support team development.
  • Assist with library programs and events that inspire and engage our diverse community.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and visually appealing branch environment.
  • Offer operational and administrative support to the Branch Manager and Team Leader.
